Zechariah Chapter 3

ZECHARIAH

ONE CHAPTER A DAY

On Daily Holy Bible Reading

ZECHARIAH

Extremely enigmatic if not esoteric. This is how the prophecy of Zechariah is in its context.

The truth behind the prophetic visions of Zechariah may not be fully understood; only and until the coming of Elijah the Prophet. As it deals with the entire period from his own day until the End of Days.

Zechariah On High Priest

It is always an advantage to live a righteous life of purity.

Come the judgment you are free of guilt.

Yes, shortcomings, failures and defeats are bound to happen. But perseverance and hope for a better way of living in obedience to the commandments of G-d matter most despite falling short along the course.

“Protection Against Satan”

“Being Cleanse and Cleaned”

Then He showed me Joshua, the Kohen Gadol, standing before the angel of Hashem, and the Satan was standing on his right to accuse him.
3:1
[The angel of] Hashem said to the Satan, “May Hashem denounce you, O Satan! May Hashem, Who chooses Jerusalem, denounce you! Indeed, this [man] is like a firebrand saved from a fire!”
3:2
“Thus said Hashem, Master of Legions: If you go in My ways, and if you will safeguard My watch and you also administer My Temple, and you will also guard My courtyards, then I will grant you strides among these [angels] who stand here.
:7
… and I will remove the iniquity of that land on one day.
:9

1 And He showed me Joshua, the High Priest, standing before the angel of the Lord. And Satan was standing on his right, to accuse him.
2 And the Lord said to Satan: The Lord shall rebuke you, O Satan; and the Lord shall rebuke you, He who chose Jerusalem. Is this one not a brand plucked from fire?
3 Now Joshua was wearing filthy garments and standing before the angel.
4 And he [the angel] raised his voice and said to those standing before him, saying, “Take the filthy garments off him.” And he said to him, “See, I have removed your iniquity from you, and I have clad you with clean garments.”
5 And I said, “Let them put a pure miter on his head,” and they put the pure miter on his head. And they had clothed him with garments while the angel of the Lord was standing.
6 And the angel of the Lord warned Joshua, saying,
7 So said the Lord of Hosts: If you walk in My ways, and if you keep My charge, you, too, shall judge My house, and you, too, shall guard My courtyards, and I will give you free access among these who stand by.
8 Hearken, now, O Joshua the High Priest-you and your companions who sit before you, for they are men worthy of a miracle-for, behold! I bring My servant, the Shoot.
9 For, behold the stone that I have placed before Joshua. Seven eyes are directed to one stone. Behold! I untie its knots, says the Lord of Hosts, and I will remove the iniquity of that land in one day.
10 On that day, says the Lord of Hosts, you shall call-each man to his neighbor-to come under his vine and under his fig tree.

Call to repentance — to return to Hashem. That in turn Hashem will return.

Test of sincerity to your service, devotion, fear and love of Hashem you who profess publicly, but do otherwise in private.

Jerusalem. Truth. Righteousness.

The rebuilding of the Temple. The hope of glad tidings for Hashem’s dwelling with His people — the righteous Jews and Gentiles.

Hashem will be One and His Name will be One.

Not through army, neither strength, but through the spirit of Hashem, Master of Legions.
