“Heart Versus Wisdom”

Those who forsake the Torah praise the wicked, but the keepers of Torah contend with them.
28:4
Men of evil will not discern [the inevitable] judgment, but those who seek Hashem will understand all.
:5
Better a poor man who walks in innocence that a rich man who perverts [his] ways.
:6
One who preserves the Torah is an understanding son, …
:7
One who multiplies his wealth through interest and increase gathers it for the patron of the poor.
:8
If one turns aside his ear from hearing the Torah, his prayers, too, will be [considered] an abomination.
:9
One who causes the upright to stray on an evil way will fall into his own pit, but the innocent will inherit goodness.
:10
One who conceals his sins will not succeed, but he who confesses and forsakes them will be granted mercy.
:13
Praiseworthy is the man who always fears, but he who is stubborn of heart will fall into misfortune.
:14
A man of integrity will increase blessings, …
:20
To show favoritism in judgment is not good, …
:21
One overeager for wealth has an evil eye; he does not know that want may befall him.
:22
One who reproves a person will later find favor, more than one with a flattering tongue.
:23
He who steals from his father and mother and says there is no sin, he is a companion to a destructive person.
:24
A greedy person stirs up strife, but one who trusts in Hashem will have abundance.
:25
One who trusts his heart is a fool, …
:26
One who gives to a pauper will not lack, but one who averts his eyes will suffer many curses.
:27

1 The wicked flee without a pursuer, but the righteous are as trusting as a young lion.
2 Because of the sin of a land, its princes are many, but because of an understanding, knowledgeable man, so will [its retribution] be delayed.
3 A poor man who oppresses the poor is like a flooding rain that leaves no food.
4 Those who forsake the Torah praise the wicked, but those who keep the Torah contend with them.
5 Men of evil do not understand judgment, but those who seek the Lord understand everything.
6 A poor man who walks innocently is better than one of perverse ways who is rich.
7He who keeps the Torah is the son of an understanding man, but he who befriends gluttons puts his father to shame.
8 He who increases his riches with usury and interest gathers it for him who is gracious to the poor.
9 He who turns his ear away from hearing the Torah-even his prayer is an abomination.
10 He who misleads the upright in an evil way will fall into his own pit, but the innocent will inherit goodness.
11 A rich man is wise in his own eyes, but a discerning poor man will search him out.
12 When the righteous rejoice, there is much glory, but when the wicked rise up, a person will be searched out.
13 He who conceals his sins will not succeed, but he who confesses and abandons [them] will obtain mercy.
14 Fortunate is the man who is always afraid, but he who hardens his heart will fall into evil.
15 A wicked man ruling over a poor people is like a roaring lion and a growling bear.
16 A ruler who lacks understanding is a great oppressor, for he who hates unlawful gain will live long.
17 A man who is guilty of robbing one’s lifeblood will flee to the pit, but no one will support him.
18 He who walks innocently will be saved, but he who is perverse in his way will fall in one.
19 He who tills his soil will be sated with bread, but he who pursues vain things will be sated with poverty.
20 A trustworthy man will have many blessings, but he who hastens to become rich will not go unpunished.
21 To be partial is not good, but for a piece of bread a man will sin.
22 He who hastens to [acquire] wealth is a man with an evil eye, and he does not know that want will come upon him.
23 He who admonishes man after Me, will find more favor than he who speaks with flattery.
24 He who robs his father or his mother and says, “This is not a sin,” is the companion of a destroyer.
25 A greedy man stirs up quarrels, but he who puts his trust in the Lord will be greatly gratified.
26 He who trusts his heart is a fool, but he who goes with wisdom will escape.
27 He who gives to a poor man will suffer no want, but he who hides his eyes will have many curses.
28 When the wicked rise up, people hide; but when they perish, the righteous increase.
