Joshua Chapter 23

THE PROPHETS

Joshua

Yehoshua

The Book of Joshua, in the Hebrew-Jewish Bible, narrates the entry of the Children of Israel into the Promised Land of Canaan and their conquest and partition of the land under the leadership of Joshua, as Moses’ successor. It details the Israelites’ miraculous crossing of the Jordan River, the fall of Jericho, the battles of Ai and Gibeon, and the division of the land among the twelve tribes. Joshua resonates with Moses, in which he exhorts the Israelites to remain faithful to G-d and His commandments.

Nearing The End Of The Book Of Joshua

3 Takeaways

3. Do not turn from it to the right or to the left.

*Clearly, it summed up the Greek book – New Testament as falsehood.

“Joshua’s Farewell”
“Encouragement and Admonishment of Joshua to the People”
“Notice and Warning”

Joshua summoned all of Israel — their elders, their heads, their judges, and their marshals — and said to them, “I have aged and am well on in years.
23:2
You have seen all that Hashem, your God, has done to all these nations before you; that Hashem, your God, has fought for you.
23:3
Strengthen yourselves very much to observe and to do all that is written in the book of the Torah of Moses, not to deviate from it to the right or to the left,
:6
not to come into these nations, those who still remain with you; you shall not mention the name of their gods and you shall not cause others to swear by them, you shall not serve them and you shall not bow down to them.
:7
Only cling to Hashem, your God, as you have done up to this day.
:8
One of you chased a thousand, because Hashem, your God, it is He Who fought for you, as He spoke to you.
:10
“You shall beware greatly for your souls, to love Hashem, your God.
:11
you should know with certainty that Hashem, your God, will continue to drive these nations out from before you; they will be a snare and an obstacle to you, a lash in your sides and thorns in your eyes, until you are banished from this goodly land that Hashem, your God, has given to you.
:13
… You know with all your heart and with all your soul that not one of all the good things that Hashem your God has promised you has fallen short; all have come about for you, not a word of it has fallen short.
:14
If you transgress the covenant of Hashem, your God, that He has commanded you, and you go and serve gods of others and bow down to them, the wrath of Hashem will burn against you, and you will perish swiftly from the goodly land that He has given you.”
:16

1 And it was after many days, after the Lord had given rest to Israel from all their enemies round about, and Joshua was old and come along in years;
2 That Joshua called all of Israel, their elders, and their heads, and their judges, and their officers, and he said to them, “I am old and come along in years.
3 And you have seen all that the Lord your God has done to all these nations before you; for the Lord your God, it is He that has fought for you.
4 Behold, I have allotted to you for an inheritance, to your tribes, these nations that remain from the Jordan, with all the nations that I have cut off, to the Great Sea toward the setting of the sun.
5 And the Lord your God, He shall push them out from before you, and drive them out from before you, and you will inherit their land, as the Lord your God has spoken to you.
6 And you shall be very resolute to keep and do all that is written in the book of the Torah of Moses, so that you do not turn from it right or left.
7 So that you do not come among these nations, that remain with you; nor shall you make mention of the name of their deities, nor exact oaths [by their name] and you shall not serve them, nor bow to them.
8 But cling to the Lord your God, as you have done to this day.
9 And the Lord has driven out from before you great and mighty nations. As for you, no man has stood before you to this day.
10 One man of you pursued a thousand, for it is the Lord your God Who wages war for you, as He has spoken to you.
11 Take good heed to yourselves, to love the Lord your God.
12 For if you turn away, and cling to the remnant of these nations, that remain with you; and intermarry with them and mingle with them and they with you;
13 Know of a certainty that the Lord your God will not drive these nations out from before you, anymore; and they will be a snare and an obstacle to you, and a goad in your sides and thorns in your eyes, until you perish from this good land, which the Lord your God has given you.
14 And, behold, this day I am going the way of all the earth; and you shall know with all your hearts and with all your souls, that not one thing of all the good things that the Lord your God has spoken concerning you has failed; all have happened to you, not one word of it has failed.
15 And it shall be, that as all the good things that the Lord your God has spoken to you have come to pass, so shall the Lord bring upon you all the evil things, until He has destroyed you from this good land, that the Lord your God has given you.
16 When you transgress the covenant of the Lord your God, that He has commanded you, and you will go and serve strange gods and you will bow to them; then the wrath of the Lord will burn against you, and you will perish quickly from upon the good land that He has given you.”

Bible reading in the form of Scripture in pictures can have a profound impact on those who may have never read a chapter in the Hebrew Bible (Old Testament). Viewing pivotal verses in a visual context can deepen one’s understanding of the text and provide a unique perspective. The images may help to illustrate important themes and messages that may not have been as easily grasped through standard reading. Additionally, this method can be particularly beneficial for those who struggle with traditional reading methods or for those who are more visually inclined. The power of visual storytelling has been utilized for centuries, and when paired with the timeless words of Scripture, it has the potential to bring new life and meaning to the ancient text. Ultimately, whatever method one chooses to engage with the Bible, the most important thing is to seek a deeper understanding of God’s word, and to apply it to our lives in a meaningful way.
