THE PROPHETS
Joshua
Yehoshua
The Book of Joshua, in the Hebrew-Jewish Bible, narrates the entry of the Children of Israel into the Promised Land of Canaan and their conquest and partition of the land under the leadership of Joshua, as Moses’ successor. It details the Israelites’ miraculous crossing of the Jordan River, the fall of Jericho, the battles of Ai and Gibeon, and the division of the land among the twelve tribes. Joshua resonates with Moses, in which he exhorts the Israelites to remain faithful to G-d and His commandments.

“Joseph’s Territories”
“Ephraim’s Territory”
“Ephraim’s Isolated Cities”
The children of Joseph — Manasseh and Ephraim — received their heritages.
16:4
The border of the children of Ephraim, according to their families, was: The border of their inheritance to the east was from Atroth Addar to Upper Beth-horon.
:5
They did not drive out the Canaanite that dwelled in Gezer; rather the Canaanite dwelled in the midst of Ephraim until this day, and they were indentured laborers.
:10
1 And the lot for the children of Joseph went out from the Jordan at Jericho, to the water of Jericho on the east, to the wilderness that goes up from Jericho on the mountain to Beth-el;
2 And it went out from Beth-el to Luz, and passed along to the border of Archi to ‘Ataroth;
3 And it went down westward to the border of Japhleti, to the border of lower Beth-horon, and to Gezer; and its goings out were at the sea.
4 And the children of Joseph: Manasseh and Ephraim, took their inheritance.
5 And the border of the children of Ephraim according to their families was: the border of their inheritance on the east side was ‘Atroth-addar, to upper Beth-horon;
6 And the border went out toward the west to Michmetath on the northside; and the border turned about eastward to Taanath-shiloh, and passed over it on the east of Janoah;
7 And it went down from Janoah to ‘Ataroth, and to Naarath, and reached Jericho, and went out at the Jordan.
8 The border went westward from Tappuah to the stream of Kanah; and its goings out were at the sea. This is the inheritance of the tribe of the children of Ephraim according to their families.
9 And the separated cities for the children of Ephraim among the inheritance of the children of Manasseh, all the cities with their villages.
10 And they did not drive out the Canaanites that dwelt in Gezer; but the Canaanites dwelt among the Ephraimites to this day, and they became servants under tribute.
