Hashem said to Moses, “Behold, you will lie with your forefathers, but this people will rise up and stray after the gods of the foreigners of the Land, in whose midst it is coming, and it will forsake Me and annul My covenant that I have sealed with it.
:16

My anger will flare against it on that day and I will forsake them; and I will conceal My face from them and they will become prey, and many evils and distresses will encounter it. It will say on that day, ‘Is it not because my god is not in my midst that these evils have come upon me?’
:17

But I will surely have concealed My face on that because of all the evil that it did, for it had turned to gods of others.
:18

1 And Moses went, and he spoke the following words to all Israel.
2 He said to them, “Today I am one hundred and twenty years old. I can no longer go or come, and the Lord said to me, “You shall not cross this Jordan.”
3 The Lord, your God He will cross before you; He will destroy these nations from before you so that you will possess them. Joshua he will cross before you, as the Lord has spoken.
4 And the Lord will do to them, as He did to the Amorite kings, Sihon and Og, and to their land, [all of] which He destroyed.
5 And [when] the Lord delivers them before you, you shall do to them according to all the commandment that I have commanded you.
6 Be strong and courageous! Neither fear, nor be dismayed of them, for the Lord, your God He is the One Who goes with you. He will neither fail you, nor forsake you.”
7 And Moses called Joshua and said to him in the presence of all Israel, “Be strong and courageous! For you shall come with this people to the land which the Lord swore to their forefathers to give them. And you shall apportion it to them as an inheritance.
8 The Lord He is the One Who goes before you; He will be with you; He will neither fail you, nor forsake you. Do not fear, and do not be dismayed.”
9 Then Moses wrote this Torah, and gave it to the priests, the descendants of Levi, who carried the ark of the covenant of the Lord, and to all the elders of Israel.
10 Then, Moses commanded them, saying, “At the end of [every] seven years, at an appointed time, in the Festival of Succoth, [after] the year of release,
11 When all Israel comes to appear before the Lord, your God, in the place He will choose, you shall read this Torah before all Israel, in their ears.
12 Assemble the people: the men, the women, and the children, and your stranger in your cities, in order that they hear, and in order that they learn and fear the Lord, your God, and they will observe to do all the words of this Torah.
13 And their children, who did not know, will hear and learn to fear the Lord, your God, all the days that you live on the land, to which you are crossing the Jordan, to possess.
14 And the Lord said to Moses, “Behold, your days are approaching [for you] to die. Call Joshua and stand in the Tent of Meeting, and I will inspire him. So Moses and Joshua went, and stood in the Tent of Meeting.
15 And the Lord appeared in the Tent, in a pillar of cloud. The pillar of cloud stood at the entrance to the Tent.
16 And the Lord said to Moses: Behold, you are [about to] lie with your forefathers, and this nation will rise up and stray after the deities of the nations of the land, into which they are coming. And they will forsake Me and violate My covenant which I made with them.
17 And My fury will rage against them on that day, and I will abandon them and hide My face from them, and they will be consumed, and many evils and troubles will befall them, and they will say on that day, ‘Is it not because our God is no longer among us, that these evils have befallen us?’
18 And I will hide My face on that day, because of all the evil they have committed, when they turned to other deities.
19 And now, write for yourselves this song, and teach it to the Children of Israel. Place it into their mouths, in order that this song will be for Me as a witness for the children of Israel.
20 When I bring them to the land which I have sworn to their forefathers [to give them], a land flowing with milk and honey, they will eat and be satisfied, and live on the fat [of the land]. Then, they will turn to other deities and serve them, provoking Me and violating My covenant.
21 And it will be, when they will encounter many evils and troubles, this song will bear witness against them, for it will not be forgotten from the mouth of their offspring. For I know their inclination what they [are planning] to do today, [even] before I bring them in to the land which I have sworn [to give them].”
22 And Moses wrote this song on that day, and taught it to the children of Israel.
23 And He commanded Joshua the son of Nun, and said: “Be strong and courageous! For you shall bring the children of Israel to the land that I have sworn to them, and I will be with you.”
24 And it was, when Moses finished writing the words of this Torah in a scroll, until their very completion,
25 that Moses commanded the Levites, who carried the ark of the covenant of the Lord, saying:
26 “Take this Torah scroll and place it along side the ark of covenant of the Lord, your God, and it will be there as a witness.
27 For I know your rebellious spirit and your stubbornness. Even while I am alive with you today you are rebelling against the Lord, and surely after my death!
28 Assemble to me all the elders of your tribes and your officers, and I will speak these words into their ears, and I will call upon the heaven and the earth as witnesses against them.
29 For I know that after my death, you will surely become corrupted, and deviate from the way which I had commanded you. Consequently, the evil will befall you at the end of days, because you did evil in the eyes of the Lord, to provoke Him to anger through the work of your hands.
30 Then, Moses spoke into the ears of the entire assembly of Israel the words of the following song, until their completion.

We have all strayed like sheep, each of us turning his own way, and Hashem inflicted upon him the iniquity of us all.
:6

1 Who would have believed our report, and to whom was the arm of the Lord revealed?
2 And he came up like a sapling before it, and like a root from dry ground, he had neither form nor comeliness; and we saw him that he had no appearance. Now shall we desire him?
3 Despised and rejected by men, a man of pains and accustomed to illness, and as one who hides his face from us, despised and we held him of no account.
4 Indeed, he bore our illnesses, and our pains-he carried them, yet we accounted him as plagued, smitten by God and oppressed.
5 But he was pained because of our transgressions, crushed because of our iniquities; the chastisement of our welfare was upon him, and with his wound we were healed.
6 We all went astray like sheep, we have turned, each one on his way, and the Lord accepted his prayers for the iniquity of all of us.
7 He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he would not open his mouth; like a lamb to the slaughter he would be brought, and like a ewe that is mute before her shearers, and he would not open his mouth.
8 From imprisonment and from judgment he is taken, and his generation who shall tell? For he was cut off from the land of the living; because of the transgression of my people, a plague befell them.
9 And he gave his grave to the wicked, and to the wealthy with his kinds of death, because he committed no violence, and there was no deceit in his mouth.
10 And the Lord wished to crush him, He made him ill; if his soul makes itself restitution, he shall see children, he shall prolong his days, and God’s purpose shall prosper in his hand.
11 From the toil of his soul he would see, he would be satisfied; with his knowledge My servant would vindicate the just for many, and their iniquities he would bear.
12 Therefore, I will allot him a portion in public, and with the strong he shall share plunder, because he poured out his soul to death, and with transgressors he was counted; and he bore the sin of many, and interceded for the transgressors.

You deliver us like sheep to be eaten, and have scattered us among the nations;
:12

Because for Your sake we are killed all the time, we were considered as sheep for slaughter.
:23

Arise! Assist us! And redeem us for the sake of Your kindness!
:27

1 For the conductor, of the sons of Korah, a maskil.
2 O God, with our ears we heard, our forefathers told us; You performed a deed in their days, in days of old.
3 You-[with] Your hand You drove out nations and planted them; You inflicted harm on kingdoms and sent them away.
4 For not by their sword did they inherit the land, neither did their arm save them, but Your right hand and Your arm and the light of Your countenance, for You favored them.
5 You are my King, O God; command the salvations of Jacob.
6 With You, we will gore our adversaries; with Your name, we will trample those who rise up against us.
7 For I do not trust in my bow, neither will my sword save me.
8 For You saved us from our adversaries and You put our enemies to shame.
9 We praised [ourselves] with God all day long, and we will forever thank Your name, yea forever.
10 Even if You have forsaken us and put us to shame, and You do not go out in our hosts;
11 You make us retreat from the adversary, and our enemies plunder for themselves;
12 You deliver us as sheep to be eaten, and You scatter us among the nations.
13 You sell Your people without gain, and You did not increase their price;
14 You make us a reproach to our neighbors, a scorn and a derision to those around us;
15 You make us a byword among the nations, a [cause for] shaking the head among the kingdoms.
16 All day long, my disgrace is before me, and the shame of my face has covered me.
17 From the voice of the one who taunts and blasphemes, because of an enemy and an avenger.
18 All this has befallen us and we have not forgotten You, neither have we betrayed Your covenant.
19 Our heart has not turned back, nor have our steps turned away from Your path
20 -even when You crushed us in a place of serpents, and You covered us with darkness.
21 If we forgot the name of our God and spread out our palms to a strange god,
22 Will God not search this out? For He knows the secrets of the heart.
23 For it is for Your sake that we are killed all the time, [that] we are considered as sheep for the slaughter.
24 Awaken! Why should You sleep, O Lord? Arouse Yourself, forsake not forever.
25 Why do You hide Your countenance? [Why do] You forget our affliction and oppression?
26 For our soul is cast down to the dust, our belly clings to the earth.
27 Arise to assist us and redeem us for the sake of Your kindness.
