Chapter 44

Jeremiah Chapter 44 Brings to Light Idol Worship with its Favorable End Result in Spite Falsehood

Because You Prosper In Idol Worship (Worship of Jesus)

That does not mean you are in the truth. Reason why you insist and continue to do so…

In this chapter learn exactly the same situation.

What G-d said, thus He commanded. Nothing; more nothing less.

“Idolatry Is Abomination”

Thus said Hashem, Master of Legions, God of Israel: You have seen all the misfortune that I have brought upon Jerusalem and upon all the cities of Judah, and behold, they are a ruin to this day, there is no inhabitant in them,
44:2
because of their evil that they did to anger Me, to go to burn incense to worship the gods of others, whom they did not know — they, you and your fathers.
44:3
I sent all My servants the prophets to you, arising early and sending, saying, ‘Do not perform this act of abomination that I detest.’
:4
But they did not listen nor incline their ear, to repent from their evil, not to burn incense to the gods of others.
:5
They have not been subdued to this day; they have not feared and have not followed My teaching and My decrees that I placed before you and before your fathers.
:10
“Concerning the word that you have spoken to us in the name of Hashem — we do not listen to you!
:16
Rather, we will indeed continue to fulfill everything that came from our mouths, to burn incense to the queen of heavens and pour out libations to her, as we did — we and our fathers, our kings and our officers — in the cities of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem, when we were sated with food, lived well and saw no misfortune.
:17
For ever since we stopped burning incense to the queen of the heaven and pouring out libations to her, we have lacked everything and we have perished by the sword and by the famine.
:18
Furthermore, when we burn offerings to the queen of the heavens and pour out libations to her, it is without our husbands’ [consent] that we make her delicacies to gladden her and pour out the libations?”
:19
Hashem could no longer forbear in the face of the wickedness of your deeds, in the face of the abominations that you had committed, so your land became a ruin and a desolation and a curse, without inhabitant, as this very day!
:22
Because you burned incense and sinned to Hashem and did not heed the voice of Hashem, and you did not follow His teaching, His decrees and His testimonies, therefore this evil has befallen you, as this very day.”
:23
Therefore, hear the word of Hashem, all of Judah who dwelled in the land of Egypt: Behold, I swear by My great Name, said Hashem, that My Name will not longer be mentioned in the mouths of any man of Judah, saying, ‘As my Lord, Hashem/Elohim lives,’ in the entire land of Egypt.”
:26
Behold I shall be diligent towards them for evil and not for good, and all the men of Judah who are in the land of Egypt will perish by the sword and by the famine, until they are annihilated.
:27
And fugitives from the sword will return from the land of Egypt to the land of Judah, few in number; and all the remnant of Judah who have come to the land of Egypt to sojourn there will know whose word will prevail, Mine of theirs.
:28
This will be the sign for you — the word of Hashem — that I will attend to you in the place, in order that you may know Hashem — that I will attend to you in this place, in order that you may know that My words concerning you, for evil, will surely come about.
:29

1 The word that came to Jeremiah concerning all the Jews dwelling in the land of Egypt, those dwelling in Migdol and in Tahpanhes and in Noph and in the land of Pathros, saying:
2 So said the Lord of Hosts, the God of Israel; You saw all the evil that I brought upon Jerusalem and upon all the cities of Judah, and behold, they are waste, and there are no inhabitants in them,
3 because of their evil, which they did to provoke Me, to go to burn incense to worship other gods, which they did not know, [neither did] you nor your forefathers.
4 And I sent to you all My servants the prophets, sending them betimes, saying: Now do not do this abominable thing which I hate.
5 But they did not hearken, nor did they incline their ear[s] to repent of their evil, not to burn incense to other gods.
6 And My anger and My fury were poured out, and it burnt in the cities of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem, and they have become waste and desolate as this day.
7 And now, so said the Lord God of Hosts, the God of Israel; Why do you do this great evil to your souls, to cut off from you man and woman, child and suckling from the midst of Judah, not to leave over a remnant for yourselves,
8 to provoke Me with the deeds of your hands, to burn incense to other gods in the land of Egypt where you are coming to sojourn, in order to cut yourselves off and in order for you to become a curse and a reproach among all the nations of the earth.
9 Have you forgotten the evils of your forefathers and the evils of the kings of Judah and the evils of his wives and the evils of your wives, that they did in the land of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem?
10 They were not crushed until this day, and they did not fear, and they did not walk in My Law and in My statutes that I placed before you and before your forefathers.
11 Therefore, so said the Lord of Hosts, the God of Israel; Behold I direct My face against you for evil and to cut off all of Judah.
12 And I will take the remnant of Judah that directed their faces to come to the land of Egypt to sojourn there, and all shall be consumed; in the land of Egypt they shall fall, by the sword and by famine they shall be consumed, both great and small shall die by the sword and by famine, and they shall be for an oath, for bewilderment, and for a curse and a reproach.
13 And I will visit upon those dwelling in the land of Egypt as I visited upon Jerusalem, by the sword, by famine, and by pestilence.
14 There shall be neither fugitive nor survivor to the remnant of Judah coming to sojourn there in the land of Egypt and to return to the land of Judah, for they mislead themselves to return to dwell there, for only fugitives shall return.
15 And all the men who knew that their wives burned incense to other gods and all the women standing [in] a great assembly, and all the people dwelling in the land of Egypt, in Pathros, answered Jeremiah, saying,
16 “The word that you spoke to us in the name of the Lord, we will not hearken to you.
17 But we will do everything that has emanated from our mouth, to burn incense to the queen of heaven and to pour libations to her, as we did, we, our forefathers, our kings, and our princes, in the cities of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem, and we were sated with bread, and we were well, and we saw no evil.
18 But since we stopped burning incense to the queen of heaven and pouring libations to her, we lack everything, and we have been consumed by the sword and by famine.
19 And when we burn incense to the queen of heaven and pour libations to her, did we make her cakes in her image without our husbands, or pour out libations to her?”
20 And Jeremiah said to all the people, to the men, to the women, and to all the people who answered him a word, saying,
21 “The incense that you burnt in the cities of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem, you and your forefathers, your kings and your princes, and the people of the land, did not the Lord remember them and did it not enter His heart?
22 And He could no longer bear because of the evil of your deeds, because of the abominations that you committed, and your land became waste and desolation and a curse, without an inhabitant as this day.
23 Because you burnt incense and because you sinned against the Lord, and you did not hearken to the voice of the Lord, and you did not walk in His Law and in His statutes and in His testimonies; therefore, this evil has befallen you as of this day.”
24 And Jeremiah said to all the people and to all the women: Hearken to the word of the Lord, all of Judah that is in the land of Egypt.
25 So said the Lord of Hosts, the God of Israel, saying: You and your wives; as you have spoken with your mouth, so have you fulfilled with your hands, saying, “We will surely execute our vows, as we have vowed to burn incense to the queen of heaven and to pour libations to her.” You shall surely fulfill your vows and you shall surely execute your vows.
26 Therefore, hearken to the word of the Lord, all of Judah dwelling in the land of Egypt; Behold, I have sworn by My great name, said the Lord, that My name shall no longer be called by the mouth of any man of Judah, saying, “As the Lord God lives,” throughout the land of Egypt.
27 Behold, I visit upon them for evil and not for good, and every man of Judah who is in the land of Egypt shall be consumed by the sword, and by famine until they are completely destroyed.
28 And fugitives of the sword [who] shall return from the land of Egypt to the land of Judah [shall be] few in number, and all the remnant of Judah that came to the land of Egypt to sojourn there shall know whose word shall stand, whether Mine or theirs.
29 And this shall be to you the sign, says the Lord, that I will visit upon you in this place, in order that you know that My words shall surely stand against you for evil.
30 So said the Lord: Behold I deliver Pharaoh Hophra, the king of Egypt, into the hand[s] of his enemies and into the hand[s] of those who seek his life, as I delivered Zedekiah, the king of Judah, into the hand[s] of Nebuchadrezzar, the king of Babylon, his enemy and the one who sought his life.

Bible reading in the form of Scripture in pictures can have a profound impact on those who may have never read a chapter in the Hebrew Bible (Old Testament). Viewing pivotal verses in a visual context can deepen one’s understanding of the text and provide a unique perspective. The images may help to illustrate important themes and messages that may not have been as easily grasped through standard reading. Additionally, this method can be particularly beneficial for those who struggle with traditional reading methods or for those who are more visually inclined. The power of visual storytelling has been utilized for centuries, and when paired with the timeless words of Scripture, it has the potential to bring new life and meaning to the ancient text. Ultimately, whatever method one chooses to engage with the Bible, the most important thing is to seek a deeper understanding of God’s word, and to apply it to our lives in a meaningful way.
