Chapter 20

Isaiah Chapter 20 on the Punishment of Egypt and Cush

Trust not on the powers of mankind. But G-d alone.

As those who actively participate in religious or spiritual group more often put their trust in their leader or founder.

Repentance

Only repentance can change G-d’s decree of punishment.

For pride, arrogance, audacity and haughtiness are all against G-d.

“Egypt And Cush – Exile”

at that time Hashem spoke through Isaiah son of Amoz, saying, “Go and don sackcloth upon your loins and remove your shoe from your foot.” He did so, going unclothed and barefoot.
20:2
Hashem said: Just as My servant Isaiah has gone unclothed and barefoot for three years, as a sign and a symbol for Egypt and Cush,
20:3
so will the king of Assyria lead away the captivity of Egypt and the exile of Cush — young and old — unclothed and barefoot, with exposed buttocks, the nakedness of Egypt.
:4
Devastated and ashamed will be those whose longing was for Cush and whose splendor was from Egypt.
:5

1 During the year that Tartan came to Ashdod, when Sargon the king of Assyria sent him, and he waged war with Ashdod and captured it.
2 At that time, the Lord spoke through Isaiah son of Amoz, saying: “Go, and you shall gird a sackcloth over your loins and you shall remove your shoes from your feet.” And he did so, going naked and barefoot.
3 And the Lord said, “As My servant Isaiah has gone naked and barefoot for three years, as a sign and a symbol for Egypt and for Cush,
4 So shall the king of Assyria lead the captivity of Egypt and the exile of Cush, youths and old men, naked and barefoot, with bare buttocks, the shame of Egypt.
5 And they shall be broken and ashamed because of Cush, their expectation, and because of Egypt, their boasting.
6 And the inhabitants of this isle shall say on that day, “Behold, so is our expectation where we fled for aid because of the king of Assyria, and how will we escape?

Bible reading in the form of Scripture in pictures can have a profound impact on those who may have never read a chapter in the Hebrew Bible (Old Testament). Viewing pivotal verses in a visual context can deepen one’s understanding of the text and provide a unique perspective. The images may help to illustrate important themes and messages that may not have been as easily grasped through standard reading. Additionally, this method can be particularly beneficial for those who struggle with traditional reading methods or for those who are more visually inclined. The power of visual storytelling has been utilized for centuries, and when paired with the timeless words of Scripture, it has the potential to bring new life and meaning to the ancient text. Ultimately, whatever method one chooses to engage with the Bible, the most important thing is to seek a deeper understanding of God’s word, and to apply it to our lives in a meaningful way.
