SHMUEL II
The Books of I and II Samuel, also known as the Books of Samuel (originally one book), recount the life and times of the prophet Samuel, the establishment of the Israelite monarchy, and the reigns of the first two kings of Israel, Saul and David. They provide insights into the political, religious, and social aspects of ancient Israel during that period. Samuel (Shmuel in Hebrew) anointed both Saul and David as kings of Israel with the approval of G-d and at His command.
Samuel is the greatest of all the judges, and a prophet who was of the same stature of Moses and Aaron.
The most coverage of this book in its context is centered in the life of David. Known as man of faith, unselfish leader, great warrior, loyal friend, compassionate in victory, humble in defeat, and model of repentance.
Chapter 7
The Book of Samuel on David’s Intent to Build the Holy Temple

Because it is not of Hebrew or Jewish origin. But of paganism like Babylon, Greeks and Romans.

“David’s Longing to Build the Holy Temple”
It happened after the king was settled into his home and Hashem had given him respite from his enemies all around,
7:1
that the king said to Nathan the prophet, “See now, I am living in a house of cedar while the Ark of God dwells within the curtain!”
7:2
Nathan said to the king, “Whatever is in your heart go and do, for Hashem is with you.”
7:3
and also from the day that I appointed judges over My people Israel — and I shall give you respite from all your enemies. And Hashem informs you that Hashem will establish a dynasty for you.

When your days are complete and you lie with your forefathers, I shall raise up after you your offspring who will issue from your loins, and I shall make his kingdom firm.
:12
He shall build a Temple for My sake, and I shall make firm the throne of his kingdom forever.
:13
I shall be a Father unto him and he shall be a son unto Me, so that when he sins I will chastise him with the rod of men and with afflictions of human beings.
:14
But My kindness will not be removed from him as I removed [it] from Saul, whom I removed from before you.
:15
Your dynasty and your kingdom will remain steadfast before you for all time; your throne will remain firm forever.’”
:16
King David then came and sat down before Hashem, and said, “Who am I, O my Lord, Hashem/Elohim, and who is my household, that You should have brought me this far?
:18
And yet this was still insufficient in Your eyes, my Lord Hashem/Elohim, so You have spoken even of Your servant’s household in the distant future —
:19
Because You are great, Hashem, God, for there is none like You and there is no god besides You, according to all that we have heard with our ears.
:22
And who is like Your people, like Israel, a unique nation on earth, whom God went forth to redeem unto Himself for a people — thus gaining Himself renown — and to perform great works for you [Israel] and wonders for Your Land, [driving out] nations and their gods from before Your people, whom You have redeemed for Yourself from Egypt.
:23
You have established for Yourself Your people Israel as a people unto You forever, and You, Hashem, have been a God for them.
:24
And may Your Name thereby be glorified forever, saying, ‘Hashem, Master of Legions, is God over Israel!’ And may the house of Your servant David remain firm before You;

And now, O my Lord, Hashem/Elohim, You are God and Your words will come true, and You have spoken to Your servant of this benevolence.
:28
1 And it came to pass, when the king dwelt in his house, and the Lord had given him rest round about from all his enemies.
2 That the king said unto Nathan the prophet; “See now, I dwell in a house of cedar, but the ark of God dwells within the curtains.”
3 And Nathan said to the king; “All that is in your heart go do; for the Lord is with you.”
4 And it came to pass on the same night, that the word of God was to Nathan saying:
5 “Go and say to My servant, to David; so says the Lord: ‘Shall you build Me a house for My dwelling?
6 For I have not dwelt in a house from the day that I brought up the children of Israel out of Egypt, to this day, but have walked in a tent and in a tabernacle.
7 In all [the places] wherein I have walked with all the children of Israel, did I speak a word with any of the rulers of Israel whom I commanded to shepherd my people Israel, saying: ‘Why do you not build for me a house of cedar?’
8 And now, so shall you say to My servant, to David; ‘Thus says the Lord of Hosts. I took you from the sheep cote, from following the sheep, to be a leader over My people Israel.
9 And I have been with you wherever you have gone, and I have cut off all your enemies from before you, and have made for you a great name, like the name of the great ones that are in the earth.
10 And I will appoint a place for My people, for Israel, and I will plant them, and they will dwell in their own place, and be disturbed no more; and the wicked people shall not continue to afflict them as formerly.
11 And even from the day that I commanded judges to be over my people Israel; and I will give you rest from all your enemies. And the Lord has told you that the Lord will make for you a house.
12 When your days are finished and you shall lie with your forefathers, then I will raise up your seed that shall proceed from your body after you, and I will establish his kingdom.
13 He shall build a house for My name, and I will establish the throne of his kingdom forever.
14 I will be to him a father, and he shall be to Me a son; so that when he goes astray I will chasten him with the rod of men, and with the stripes of the sons of Adam.
15 But My mercy shall not depart from him as I withdrew it from Saul, whom I removed from before you.
16 And your house and your kingdom shall be confirmed forever before you; your throne shall be established forever.”
17 According to all these words, and according to all this vision, so did Nathan speak to David.
18 And the king David went in and sat before the Lord; and he said: “Who am I, O’ Lord God, and what is my house, that You have brought me thus far?
19 As though this was yet too small a thing in Your eyes, O’ Lord God: but You also spoke of Your servant’s house from afar; now is this the manner of man, O’ Lord God?
20 And what more can David say to You? For You know Your servant, O’ Lord God.
21 For the sake of Your word, and according to Your own heart, have you brought about all this greatness, to make Your servant know it.
22 Therefore You are great, O’ Lord God: for there is none like You, neither is there any God beside You, according to all that we have heard with our ears.
23 And who is like Your people, like Israel, one nation in the world, whom God went to redeem for Himself as a people, and to make Him a name, also to accomplish for you the greatness and fearful things for Your land, [in driving out] from before Your people, whom You did redeem for Yourself out of Egypt, [the] nations and their gods?
24 And You did establish to Yourself Your people Israel to be a people unto You forever; and You, Lord, became their God.
25 And now, O’ Lord God, the word that You have spoken concerning Your servant and concerning his house, confirm it forever, and do as You have spoken.
26 And let Your name be magnified forever, that it may be said: ‘The Lord of Hosts is God over Israel; and the house of Your servant David shall be established before You.
27 For You, O’ Lord of Hosts, the God of Israel have revealed to Your servant’s ear saying: ‘A house I will build you’; therefore has your servant found in his heart to pray unto you this prayer.
28 And now, O Lord God, You [alone] are God, and Your words are truth, and You have spoken unto Your servant this good thing.
29 And now let it please You to bless the house of Your servant, that it may continue forever before You; for You, O’ Lord God, has spoken it, and through Your blessing let be blessed the house of Your servant forever.”
