“Jehu, King of Israel”
“The Bloody End of the House of Ahab”

When you arrive there, find Jehu son of Jehoshaphat son of Nimshi; tell him to arise from among his colleagues and bring him into an inner chamber.
9:2
Then take the jar of oil and pour it on his head and say, ‘Thus said Hashem I have anointed you king over Israel!’ Then open the door and flee; do not delay.”
9:3
You shall strike down your masters, the house of Ahab; then I shall be avenged of the blood of My servants the prophets and the blood of all the servants of Hashem, from the hand of Jezebel.
:7
The entire house of Ahab shall perish; I shall obliterate male offspring from Ahab, and anyone who survives or remains anywhere in Israel.
:8
And Jezebel shall be eaten by the dogs in the portion of Jezreel, and no one will bury [her].’ He then opened the door and fled.
:10
Hurriedly, each of them took his garment and put it underneath him, on the top of the steps, they sounded the shofar and said, “Jehu has become king!”
:13
When Jehoram saw Jehu he said, “[Do you come] in peace, Jehu?” And he replied, “What is the peace that it should extend to the harlotries of your mother Jezebel and to her abundant witchcraft!”
:22
Ahaziah king of Judah saw and he fled by way of the garden house; Jehu chased after himj and said, “Strike him down also in the chariot.” [They wounded him] in the ascent of Gur which is by Ibleam; he fled to Megiddo and diend there.
:27
Jehu then came to Jezreel. Jezebel heard and she put mascara on her eyes and adorned her head, and she looked out of the window.
:30
He said “Push here out [of the window]!” They pushed her out, and some of her blood flowed to the wall and to the horses and [Jehu] trampled her bodgy.
:34
They returned and told him; and he said, “It is the word of Hashem that he spoke through the hand of his servant Elijah the Tishbite, saying, ‘In the portion of Jezreel, the dogs will devour the flesh of Jezebel.
:36

1 And Elisha the prophet summoned one of the disciples of the prophets and said to him, “Gird your loins and take this cruse of oil in your hand, and go to Ramoth-Gilead.
2 And you shall come there, and see there Jehu the son of Jehoshaphat the son of Nimshi, and you shall come and raise him up from among his brothers and bring him into an inner chamber.”
3 And you shall take the cruse of oil and pour it on his head, and you shall say, “So said the Lord, ‘I have anointed you as king over Israel.’ And you shall open the door and flee; do not tarry.”
4 And the lad, the disciple of the prophet, went to Ramoth- Gilead.
5 And he came, and behold, the officers of the army were sitting; and he said, “I have a message for you, officer,” and Jehu said, “For which one of all of us?” And he said, “For you, officer.”
6 And he arose and came to the house and poured oil on his head. And he said to him, “So said the Lord God of Israel, ‘I have anointed you as king over the Lord’s people, over Israel.
7 And you shall strike the house of Ahab your master, and I will avenge the blood of My servants the prophets and the blood of all the Lord’s servants from Jezebel.
8 And the entire house of Ahab will perish; and I will cut off from Ahab all males and every restrained and free in Israel.
9 And I shall render the house of Ahab like the house of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, and like the house of Baasha the son of Ahijah.
10 And the dogs will eat Jezebel in the territory of Jezreel and no one will bury her.’ ” And he opened the door and fled.
11 And Jehu went out to his master’s servants, and one said to him, “Is all well? Why did this madman come to you?” And he said, “You know the man and his speech.”
12 And they said, “It is a lie; please tell us.” And he said, “He said to me thus and thus, saying, ‘So said the Lord, “I have anointed you as king over Israel.” ‘ “
13 And they hastened, and each one took his garment and they put them under him on the top step, and they sounded the shofar and said, “Jehu has become king!”
14 And Jehu son of Jehoshaphat son of Nimshi revolted against Joram, while Joram was guarding in Ramoth- Gilead, he and all Israel, against Hazael king of Aram.
15 And King Jehoram returned to recuperate in Jezreel from the wounds that the Arameans inflicted upon him when he fought with Hazael king of Aram. And Jehu said, “If you so desire, let no survivor leave the city to go and tell in Jezreel.”
16 And Jehu rode and went to Jezreel for Joram was lying there, and Ahaziah king of Judah went down to see Joram.
17 And the lookout was standing on the tower in Jezreel, and he saw Jehu’s troop when it came, and he said, “I see a troop.” And Jehoram said, “Take a rider and send him toward them, and let him say, ‘Is there peace?’ “
18 The horse rider went toward him and said, “So said the king, ‘Is there peace?’ ” and Jehu said, “What is it to you whether there is peace? Fall in behind me.” And the lookout reported saying, “The messenger came up to them and did not return.”
19 And he sent a second horse rider, who came to them and said, “So said the king, ‘Is there peace?’ ” And Jehu said, “What is it to you whether there is peace? Fall in behind me.”
20 And the lookout reported saying, “He came up to them and did not return. His driving is like the driving of Jehu the son of Nimshi, for he drives madly.
21 And Jehoram said, “Hitch up!” And he hitched up his chariot. And Jehoram king of Israel and Ahaziah king of Judah, went out each in his own chariot; they went out toward Jehu, and they found him in the territory of Naboth the Jezreelite.
22 And it was when Jehoram saw Jehu, that he said, “Is there peace, Jehu?” And he said, “What peace is there with the harlotries of Jezebel your mother and her numerous sorceries?”
23 And Jehoram turned his hands around and fled. And he said to Ahaziah, “Treachery, Ahaziah!”
24 And Jehu put all his strength into his bow, and he hit Jehoram between his arms, and the arrow protruded from his heart, and he fell to his knees in his chariot.
25 And he said to Bidkar, his officer, “Pick him up! Throw him into the territory of the field of Naboth the Jezreelite, for remember that you and I were riding together after Ahab his father, when the Lord pronounced this prophecy upon him:
26 ‘Did I not see the blood of Naboth and the blood of his children last night?’ says the Lord. ‘I shall requite you in this plot,’ says the Lord. And now, pick [him] up and throw him into this plot according to the word of the Lord.”
27 And Ahaziah king of Judah saw, and he fled by way of the garden-house, and Jehu pursued him, and he said, “Strike him too in the chariot.” [And they struck him] at the ascent of Gur which is near Ibleam, and he fled to Megiddo and died there.
28 And his servants carried him in a chariot to Jerusalem, and they buried him in his grave with his forefathers in the city of David.
29 And in the eleventh year of Joram son of Ahab, Ahaziah became king over Judah.
30 And Jehu came to Jezreel, and Jezebel heard, and she painted her eyes and she adorned her head, and looked out of the window.
31 And Jehu came into the gate; and she said, “Is there peace, Zimri, assassin of his master?”
32 And he lifted his face to the window and said, “Who is with me? Who?” And two or three eunuchs looked out to him.
33 And he said, “Push her out!” And they pushed her out, and some of her blood splattered on the wall and on the horses, and they trampled her.
34 And he came and ate and drank; and he said, “Attend to this cursed woman and bury her, for she is a king’s daughter.”
35 And they went to bury her, but they did not find of her save the skull, the feet, and the palms of the hands.
36 And they returned and told him: and he said, “It is God’s word which he spoke through his prophet, Elijah the Tishbite, saying, ‘In the territory of Jezreel the dogs will devour Jezebel’s flesh.
37 And Jezebel’s corpse shall be as dung upon the field in the territory of Jezreel, so that no one will say, “This is Jezebel.’ “

Bible reading in the form of Scripture in pictures can have a profound impact on those who may have never read a chapter in the Hebrew Bible (Old Testament). Viewing pivotal verses in a visual context can deepen one’s understanding of the text and provide a unique perspective. The images may help to illustrate important themes and messages that may not have been as easily grasped through standard reading. Additionally, this method can be particularly beneficial for those who struggle with traditional reading methods or for those who are more visually inclined. The power of visual storytelling has been utilized for centuries, and when paired with the timeless words of Scripture, it has the potential to bring new life and meaning to the ancient text. Ultimately, whatever method one chooses to engage with the Bible, the most important thing is to seek a deeper understanding of God’s word, and to apply it to our lives in a meaningful way.
