Chapter 5

I Kings Chapter 5 Relates on Solomon’s Wisdom and Blessings from Hashem

G-d Is Always True To His Promise

He blesses those who bless (revere) Him.

Those who fear and obey Him He grants security, tranquility and peace.

All these are mentioned in this chapter alone.

“Solomon’s Vast Wisdom”

Solomon ruled over all the kingdoms, from the [Euphrates] River [to] the land of the Philistines, until the border of Egypt; they brought tributes and served Solomon all the days of his life.
5:1
Judah and Israel dwelt in security, each man under his grapevine and under his fig tree, from Dan to Beer-sheba, all the days of Solomon.
:5
God gave wisdom and considerable understanding to Solomon, and breadth of heart as [immerse as] the sand which is upon the seashore.
:9
Solomon’s wisdom surpassed the wisdom of all people of the East and all the wisdom of Egypt.
:10
He was wiser than all men — …
:11
He spoke three thousand proverbs, and his songs were one thousand and five.
:12
Hiram, king of Tyre, sent his servants to Solomon, for he had heard that he had been anointed king in place of his father, for Hiram had always been a friend of David.
:15
And now Hashem my God has granted me rest on all sides — there is no adversary and no misfortune.
:18
Therefore I have decided to build a house for the Name of Hashem my God, as Hashem spoke to my father David, saying, ‘Your son, whom I shall place upon your throne in your stead — he will build a house for My Name.’
:19
And it was when Hiram heard the words of Solomon he was very glad and said, “Blessed is Hashem this day, Who has granted David a wise son [to rule] over this numerous people.”
:21
The builders of Solomon, the builders of Hiram and the Gebalites carved stones, and they prepared the wood and the stones to build the Temple.

Bible reading in the form of Scripture in pictures can have a profound impact on those who may have never read a chapter in the Hebrew Bible (Old Testament). Viewing pivotal verses in a visual context can deepen one’s understanding of the text and provide a unique perspective. The images may help to illustrate important themes and messages that may not have been as easily grasped through standard reading. Additionally, this method can be particularly beneficial for those who struggle with traditional reading methods or for those who are more visually inclined. The power of visual storytelling has been utilized for centuries, and when paired with the timeless words of Scripture, it has the potential to bring new life and meaning to the ancient text. Ultimately, whatever method one chooses to engage with the Bible, the most important thing is to seek a deeper understanding of God’s word, and to apply it to our lives in a meaningful way.
