“Elah, King of Israel”
‘Zimri, King of Israel”
“Omri, King of Israel”
“Ahab, King of Israel”
The word of Hashem came to Jehu son of Hanani concerning Baasa, saying,
16:1
“Inasmuch as I have elevated you from the dirt, and emplaced you as ruler over My people Israel, yet you have gone in the path of Jeroboam, and have caused My people Israel to sin, to anger Me with their sins,
:2
Baasa lay with his forefathers and was buried in Tirzah, and his son Elah reigned in his place.
:6
Zimri came, struck [Elah] down and killed him, in the twenty-seventh year of Asa, king of Judah, and he reigned in his place.
:10
Zimri annihilated the entire house of Baasa, in accordance with the word of Hashem, which He had spoken concerning Baasa through the hand of the prophet Jehu,
:12
because of all the sins of Baasa and the sins of his son Elah, who sinned and caused Israel to sin, angering Hashem, God of Israel, with their vanities.
:13
.. So all of Israel made Omri, the commander of the army, king over Israel on that day, in the camp.
:16
At that time the people of Israel became split into halves: half the people followed Tibni son of Ginath, to make him king, and the other half followed after Omri.
:21
Omri did what was evil in the eyes of Hashem; he was more wicked than all those who had preceded him.
:25
Omri lay with his forefathers and was buried in Samaria, and his son Ahab reigned in his place.
:28
Ahab son of Omri did evil in the eyes of Hashem, more than all who had preceded him.
:30
The least [of his evils] was his going in [the way of] the sins of Jeroboam son of Nebat. He took a wife, Jezebel daughter of Ethbaal, king of the Sidonians; and he went and worshipped the Baal and prostrated himself to it.
:31
Ahab made an Asherah-tree; and Ahab did more to anger Hashem, God of Israel, than all the kings of Israel who had preceded him.
:33
In his days, Hiel of Beth-elite built [up] Jericho; with [the death of] Abiram, his firstborn, he laid its foundations; and with [the death of] Segub, his youngest, he installed its doors; like the word of Hashem that He had spoken through the hand of Joshua son of Nun.
:34
1 And the word of the Lord was to Jehu, the son of Hanani about Baasha saying,
2 “Since I have elevated you from the dust, and made you prince over My people, Israel, and you have gone in the way of Jeroboam and you have caused My people Israel to sin and to anger Me with their sins.
3 Behold I will expunge after Baasha and after his house, and I will make your house as the house of Jeroboam the son of Nabat.
4 The dead of Baasha in the city the dogs will eat, and the dead of Baasha in the field the fowl of the sky will eat.
5 The rest of the event of Baasha and what he did and his mighty deeds, are written in the book of chronicles of the kings of Israel.
6 And Baasha lay with his fathers, and he was buried in Tirzah, and Elah his son reigned in his place.
7 Nevertheless, in the hand of Jehu, the son of Hanani the prophet, was the word of the Lord concerning Baasha and concerning his house and because of all the iniquity which he had done in the presence of the Lord to anger Him with the work of his hands, to be as the house of Jeroboam, and because he had slain him.
8 In the twenty-sixth year of Asa, king of Judah, Elah the son of Baasha ruled over Israel in Tirzah for two years.
9 And his servant Zimri, captain of half the chariots, conspired against him while he was in Tirzah drinking himself drunk in the house of Arza who was [appointed] over the household in Tirzah.
10 And Zimri came and smote him and slew him in the twenty-seventh year of Asa the king of Judah, and he reigned in his stead.
11 And it was when he reigned, as he sat on his throne, that he smote the entire house of Baasha; he did not leave him with any males nor his kinsfolk nor his friends.
12 And Zimri destroyed the entire house of Baasha as the word of the Lord which He had spoken concerning Baasha through Jehu the prophet.
13 For all the sins of Baasha and the sins of Elah his son that they sinned and that they caused Israel to sin to anger the Lord, God of Israel, with their false gods.
14 The rest of the events of Elah and all that he did are they written in the book of Chronicles of the kings of Israel.
15 During the twenty-seventh year of Asa, the king of Judah, Zimri reigned for seven days in Tirzah while the people were encamped around Gibbethon, of the Philistines.
16 And the people who were encamped, heard saying, “Zimri rebelled and has also slain the king” and all of Israel pronounced Omri the commander-in-chief of the army, king of Israel on that day in the camp.
17 And Omri and all of Israel went up from Gibbethon and besieged Tirzah.
18 And it was when Zimri saw that the city was captured, that he went into the inner chamber of the king’s palace, and he burnt over him the king’s palace with fire, and he died.
19 Because of his sins which he sinned, to do bad in the eyes of the Lord, to go in the way of Jeroboam and in his sins which he did, to cause Israel to sin.
20 And the rest of the events of Zimri and his rebellion that he rebelled, are written in the book of Chronicles of the kings of Israel.
21 Then the people of Israel were divided in two. Half of the people were after Tibni the son of Ginath, to proclaim him king, and half after Omri.
22 And the people that followed Omri overpowered those who were after Tibni, the son of Ginath. Tibni died, and Omri reigned.
23 In the thirty-first year of Asa the king of Judah, Omri ruled over Israel twelve years-in Tirzah, he ruled six years.
24 And he bought the mountain of Samaria from Shemer for two talents of silver; he built up the mountain and called the name of the city which he built, after the name of Shemer, the lord of the mountain, Samaria.
25 And Omri did what was bad in the eyes of the Lord, and he was more wicked than all those that preceded him.
26 He went in all the ways of Jeroboam, the son of Nabat, and in his sin, that he caused Israel to sin, to anger the Lord, the God of Israel with their false gods.
27 And the rest of the actions of Omri that he accomplished and his mighty deeds that he did, are inscribed in the book of Chronicles of the kings of Israel.
28 And Omri lay with his fathers, and he was buried in Samaria, and Ahab his son ruled in his stead.
29 Now Ahab the son of Omri ruled over Israel, in the thirty-eighth year of Asa, king of Judah, and Ahab the son of Omri ruled over Israel in Samaria twenty-two years.
30 And Ahab did that which was bad in the eyes of the Lord more than all before him.
31 And it was insignificant for him to follow the sins of Jeroboam, the son of Nebat, and he took as a wife Jezebel, the daughter of Ethbaal, the king of the Zidonians and he went and worshipped the Baal and prostrated himself to him.
32 And he erected an altar to Baal in the house of Baal which he had built in Samaria.
33 And Ahab made the “Asheirah,” and Ahab did more to anger the Lord, the God of Israel than all the kings of Israel who had preceded him.
34 During his days, Hiel the Bethelite built Jericho; with Abiram his firstborn, he laid its foundation, and with Seguv his youngest son, he set up its gates, according to the word of the Lord that He had spoken through Joshua, the son of Nun.
