Hosea Chapter 12 How You Live Your Life is Being Taken into Account Either to Your Favor or Against You

Hosea — Always Hope To Your G-d

A reminder of not taking credit for your success and wealth.

Pride and arrogance are against G-d.

“Loyalty Of Judah”

“Arrogance Of Ephraim”

Ephraim has surrounded Me with falsehood, and the House of Israel with deceit, but Judah still ruled with God and was faithful with the Holy One.
12:1
In the womb he seized his brother’s heel. and with his strength he struggled with [an angel of] God,
:4
he struggled with an angel and prevailed; [the angel] wept and beseeched him: ‘In Beth-el He will find us and there He will speak with us.
:5
Hashem is God of Legions; Hashem is His remembrance.
:6
And as for you, return by your God, observe kindness and justice, and always hope to your God.
:7
[But you are instead] a trader with scales of deceit in his hand, who loves to cheat.
:8
Ephraim said, ‘Indeed I have become rich; I have found power for myself, for in all my toil they will not find for me any iniquity which [contains] sin.’
:9
I am Hashem your God since the land of Egypt; I will yet settle you in tents as in the days of [early] times.
:10
I spoke with the prophets and provided numerous visions, and through the prophets I conveyed allegories.
:11
Jacob fled to the field of Aram; Israel worked for a wife, and for a wife he guarded [sheep].
:13
And by a prophet Hashem brought Israel up from Egypt, and through a prophet they were safeguarded.
:14

1 Ephraim has surrounded me with lies, and the house of Israel with deceit, but Judah still rules with God, and with the Holy One he is faithful.
2 Ephraim joins the wind and chases the east wind; all day he increases deceit and plunder, and they make a treaty with Assyria, and oil is brought to Egypt.
3 Now the Lord has a contention with Judah, and to visit upon Jacob according to his ways; according to his deeds He shall recompense him.
4 In the womb, he seized his brother’s heel, and with his strength he strove with an angel.
5 He strove with an angel and prevailed; he wept and beseeched him; In Bethel he shall find Him, and there He shall speak with us.
6 And the Lord is the God of the hosts; the Lord is His Name.
7 And you shall return by your God: keep loving-kindness and justice, and hope to your God always.
8 A trafficker who has deceitful scales in his hand; he loves to oppress.
9 And Ephraim said: Surely I have become rich; I have found power for myself; all my toils shall not suffice for my iniquity which is sin.
10 And I am the Lord your God from the land of Egypt; I will yet make you dwell in tents as in the days of the [early] times.
11 And I spoke to the prophets, and I increased their visions; and to the prophets I assumed likenesses.
12 If there is violence in Gilead, it is because they were but vanity; in Gilgal they sacrificed oxen; also their altars were like heaps on the furrows of the field.
13 And Jacob fled to the field of Aram; and Israel worked for a wife, and for a wife he guarded.
14 And, through a prophet, the Lord brought up Israel from Egypt, and through a prophet they were guarded.
15 Ephraim provoked, yea bitterness; therefore his blood shall be cast upon him, and his disgrace his Lord shall requite upon him.

Bible reading in the form of Scripture in pictures can have a profound impact on those who may have never read a chapter in the Hebrew Bible (Old Testament). Viewing pivotal verses in a visual context can deepen one’s understanding of the text and provide a unique perspective. The images may help to illustrate important themes and messages that may not have been as easily grasped through standard reading. Additionally, this method can be particularly beneficial for those who struggle with traditional reading methods or for those who are more visually inclined. The power of visual storytelling has been utilized for centuries, and when paired with the timeless words of Scripture, it has the potential to bring new life and meaning to the ancient text. Ultimately, whatever method one chooses to engage with the Bible, the most important thing is to seek a deeper understanding of God’s word, and to apply it to our lives in a meaningful way.
