“G-d’s Move”

When Israel was a lad I loved him, and since Egypt I have been calling out to My son.
11:1
… for they refused to repent.

And yet My people waver about returning to Me; and [though] they call them to the Supreme One, they are together in not exalting [Him].

… for I am God and not a man; the Holy One is in your midst, …

They will follow after Hashem, like a lion He will roar; for He will roar and [His] children will stir from the west.

1 For, when Israel was young, I loved him, and from Egypt I called My son.
2 The more they called to them, the more they went away from them; to the baalim they would slaughter sacrifices, and to the graven images they would burn incense.
3 But I sent to train Ephraim, he took them on his arms, but they did not know that I healed them.
4 I drew them with cords of a man, with bands of love, and I was to them like those who lift the yoke on their bridles, and I extended to him the ability to bear.
5 He shall not return to the land of Egypt, but Assyria is his king, for they have refused to repent.
6 And a sword shall rest in his cities, and it shall destroy his branches, and it shall consume; because of their counsels.
7 And My people waver whether to return to Me, and to the matter concerning which they call them, together they do not uphold [it].
8 How shall I give you, Ephraim? [How] deliver you, O Israel? How shall I make you as Admah, make you as Zeboyim? My heart is turned within Me, together My remorse has been kindled.
9 I will not execute the kindling of My anger, I will not return to destroy Ephraim, for I am God and not a man. In your midst is the Holy One, and I will not enter a city.
10 They shall follow the Lord, He shall roar like a lion; for He shall roar, and the children shall hasten from the west.
11 They shall hasten like a bird from Egypt and like a dove from the land of Assyria; and I will place them in their houses, says the Lord.

The Book of Jonah (Yonah in the Hebrew-Jewish Bible) is a narrative prophetic book that tells the story of the prophet Jonah, who is reluctant to fulfill G-d’s command to prophesy against the city of Nineveh. Instead, Jonah flees to Tarshish, but a great storm arises and the sailors throw Jonah overboard to appease the storm. Jonah is swallowed by a large fish, where he prays to G-d. After three days and three nights, the fish vomits Jonah onto dry land. Jonah then goes to Nineveh and delivers God’s message of repentance, leading to the city’s repentance and God’s mercy. The book highlights matters of God’s sovereignty, mercy, and the importance of obedience.
The Book of Micah (Michah in the Hebrew-Jewish Bible). Micah, who lived during the 8th century BCE during the reigns of the kings of Judah and Israel. Micah’s prophecies address social justice, the condemnation of injustice, the coming judgment of G-d on Israel and other nations for their sins, and the promise of a future restoration and redemption. Micah’s prophecies are known for its powerful outlook and emotional intensity.
The Book of Nahum (Nachum in the Hebrew-Jewish Bible).
Prophet Nahum, who lived during the 7th century BCE. The book primarily addresses the judgment of G-d upon the city of Nineveh, the capital of the Assyrian Empire, for its arrogance, cruelty, and violence. Nahum’s prophecies are known for their vivid descriptions of Nineveh’s destruction and their emphasis on G-d’s justice and sovereignty.
The Book of Habakkuk (Chavakuk in the Hebrew-Jewish Bible). Habakkuk, who lived during the 7th century BCE. The book addresses themes such as the suffering of the righteous, the coming judgment of G-d on the wicked, and the assurance of G-d’s ultimate victory. Habakkuk’s prophecies are known for their powerful and poetic language, and his book has been a source of inspiration and comfort to many throughout history.
The Book of Zephaniah (Tzefaniah in the Hebrew-Jewish Bible), a prophetic book containing the prophecies of the prophet Zephaniah, who lived during the 7th century BCE.
