Chapter 12
Deuteronomy Chapter 12 Elaborates on Prohibitions Against the Canaanites and Doing What is Good in Your Own Eyes
Do Not Do What Is Right Only According To Your Own Eyes
G-d Himself gave the entire commandments to follow and obey.
Hence, no one has the authority to abrogate any of it.
Not Paul. Neither the Greek book – New Testament!
“Sanctity of the Land”

These are the decrees and the ordinances that you shall observe to perform in the Land that Hashem, the God of your forefathers, has given you, to possess it, all the days that you live on the Land.
12:1
You shall utterly destroy all the places where the nations that you are driving away worshiped their gods: on the high mountains and on the hills, and under every leafy tree.
12:2
You shall break apart their altars; you shall smash their pillars; and their sacred trees shall you burn in the fire; their carved images shall you cut down; and you shall obliterate their names from that place.
12:3
You shall not do this to Hashem, your God. Rather, only at the place that Hashem, your God, will choose from among all your tribes to place His Name there shall you seek out His Presence and come there.
:4-5
You shall not do like everything that we do here today – [rather,] every man what is proper in his eyes –
:8
It shall be that the place where Hashem, your God, will choose to rest His Name – there shall you bring everything that I command you: your burnt-offerings and your feast-offerings, your tithes and what you raise up with your hands, and the choicest of your vow offerings that you will vow to Hashem.
:11
Beware for yourself lest you bring up your burnt-offerings in any place that you see. Rather, only in the place that Hashem will choose, among one of your tribes, there shall you bring up your burnt-offerings, and there shall you do all that I command you.
:13-14
But you shall not eat the blood; you shall pour it onto the earth, like water.
:16
Only be strong not to eat blood – for the blood, it is the life – and you shall not eat the life with the meat.
:23
You shall not eat it, in order that it be well with you and your children after you, when you do what is right in the eyes of Hashem.
:25
Only your sanctities that you will have and your vow offerings shall you carry, and come to the place that Hashem will choose.
:26
Safeguard and hearken to all these words that I command you, in order that it be well with you and your children after you forever, when you do what is good and right in the eyes of Hashem, your God.
:28
Beware for yourself lest you be attracted after them after they have been destroyed before you, and lest you seek out their gods, saying, “How did these nations worship their gods, and even I will do the same.”
:30
You shall not do so to Hashem, your God, for everything that is an abomination of Hashem, that He hates, have they done to their gods; for even their sons and their daughters have they burned in the fire for their gods.
:32
1 These are the statutes and ordinances that you shall keep to perform in the land which the Lord God of your fathers gives you to possess all the days that you live on the earth.
2 You shall utterly destroy from all the places where the nations, that you shall possess, worshipped their gods, upon the lofty mountains and upon the hills, and under every lush tree.
3 And you shall tear down their altars, smash their monuments, burn their asherim with fire, cut down the graven images of their gods, and destroy their name from that place.
4 You shall not do so to the Lord, your God.
5 But only to the place which the Lord your God shall choose from all your tribes, to set His Name there; you shall inquire after His dwelling and come there.
6 And there you shall bring your burnt offerings, and your sacrifices, and your tithes, and the separation by your hand, and your vows and your donations, and the firstborn of your cattle and of your sheep.
7 And there you shall eat before the Lord, your God, and you shall rejoice in all your endeavors you and your households, as the Lord, your God, has blessed you.
8 You shall not do as all the things that we do here this day, every man [doing] what he deems fit.
9 For you have not yet come to the resting place or to the inheritance, which the Lord, your God, is giving you.
10 And you shall cross the Jordan and settle in the land the Lord, your God, is giving you as an inheritance, and He will give you rest from all your enemies surrounding you, and you will dwell securely.
11 And it will be, that the place the Lord, your God, will choose in which to establish His Name there you shall bring all that I am commanding you: Your burnt offerings, and your sacrifices, your tithes, and the separation by your hand, and the choice of vows which you will vow to the Lord.
12 And you shall rejoice before the Lord, your God you and your sons and your daughters and your menservants and your maidservants, and the Levite who is within your cities, for he has no portion or inheritance with you.
13 Beware, lest you offer up your burnt offerings any place you see.
14 But only in the place the Lord will choose in one of your tribes; there you shall offer up your burnt offerings, and there you shall do all that I command you.
15 However, in every desire of your soul, you may slaughter and eat meat in all your cities, according to the blessing of the Lord, your God, which He gave you; the unclean and the clean may eat thereof, as of the deer, and as of the gazelle.
16 However, you shall not eat the blood; you shall spill it on the ground like water.
17 You may not eat within your cities the tithe of your grain, or of your wine, or of your oil, or the firstborn of your cattle or of your sheep, or any of your vows that you will vow, or your donations, or the separation by your hand.
18 But you shall eat them before the Lord, your God, in the place the Lord, your God, will choose you, your son, your daughter, your manservant, your maidservant, and the Levite who is in your cities, and you shall rejoice before the Lord, your God, in all your endeavors.
19 Beware, lest you forsake the Levite all your days upon your land.
20 When the Lord, your God, expands your boundary, as He has spoken to you, and you say, “I will eat meat,” because your soul desires to eat meat, you may eat meat, according to every desire of your soul.
21 If the place the Lord, your God, chooses to put His Name there, will be distant from you, you may slaughter of your cattle and of your sheep, which the Lord has given you, as I have commanded you, and you may eat in your cities, according to every desire of your soul.
22 But as the deer and the gazelle are eaten, so may you eat them; the unclean and the clean alike may eat of them.
23 However, be strong not to eat the blood, for the blood is the soul; and you shall not eat the soul with the flesh.
24 You shall not eat it, you shall spill it on the ground, like water.
25 You shall not eat it, in order that it be good for you, and for your children after you, when you do what is proper in the eyes of the Lord.
26 However, your holy offerings which you will have, and your vows, you shall carry, and come to the place that the Lord chooses.
27 And you shall make your burnt offerings the flesh and the blood upon the altar of the Lord, your God, and the blood of your sacrifices shall be poured upon the altar of the Lord, your God, and you shall eat the flesh.
28 Keep and hearken to all these words that I command you, that it may benefit you and your children after you, forever, when you do what is good and proper in the eyes of the Lord, your God.
29 When the Lord, your God cuts off the nations to which you will come to drive them out from before you, and when you drive them out and dwell in their land,
30 beware, lest you be attracted after them, after they are exterminated from before you; and lest you inquire about their gods, saying, “How did these nations serve their gods? And I will do likewise.”
31 You shall not do so to the Lord, your God; for every abomination to the Lord which He hates, they did to their gods, for also their sons and their daughters they would burn in fire to their gods.

TORAH
(Law)
The book of Deuteronomy, also known as Devarim in Hebrew (“Words”), is the fifth book of the Hebrew Bible or the Christian Old Testament. It contains a series of speeches by Moses to the Israelites, just before they are about to enter the promised land, which summarize and expand upon many of the laws and commandments given in the earlier books of the Torah. The word Deuteronomy literally means “second law,” indicating that Moses is rehearsing the law with the Israelites before they enter the land.
The book is often seen as a sort of farewell address by Moses, containing some of his final instructions and blessings to the people he has led for many years. It emphasizes the importance of following G-d’s commandments and remaining faithful to Him, while warning against the dangers of disobedience and idolatry. Overall, Deuteronomy serves as a significant text in the history of Judaism and Christianity, containing many of the foundational beliefs and values of these religions.
