Amos Chapter 3 Proves that G-d is Behind Both Good and Evil Based on Your Deeds Not Faith Alone

Amos Tells That Everything Happens With Its Purpose

Measure for measure.

G-d sees your every move; especially in matters of worship.

Bethel is not a safe haven at all.

Read or listen for yourself if you doubt.

“Not A Coincidence”

“Sovereignty Of G-d”

You alone did I know from among all the families of the earth; therefore I will hold you to account for all your iniquities.
3:2
Do two people walk together, unless they had [so] arranged?
3:3
Does a lion roar in the forest, if it has no kill? Does a young lion send forth his voice from his lair, unless he has captured [prey]?
:4
Does a bird fall into a trap on the ground, if it does not have a snare? Does the trap rise from the ground, unless it has entrapped?
:5
Is the shofar ever sounded in a city and the people not tremble? Can there be misfortune in a city, if Hashem had not brought it?
:6
For the Lord Hashem/Elohim will not do anything unless He has revealed His secret to His servants the prophets.
:7
A lion has roared; who will not fear? The Lord Hashem/Elohim has spoken; who will not prophesy?
:8
They do not know how to do right — the word of Hashem — they store up violence and plunder in their palaces.
:10
Listen and testify in the House of Jacob — the word of the Lord Hashem/Elohim, the God of Legions.
:13
For on the day that I visit the transgressions of Israel against them, I will avenge the altars of Beth-el; the corners of the altar will be cut off and they will fall to the ground.
:14

1 Hearken to this word which the Lord spoke about you, O children of Israel, about the entire family which I brought up from the land of Egypt, saying:
2 Only you did I love above all the families of the earth; therefore, I will visit upon you all your iniquities.
3 Will two walk together unless they agreed?
4 Will a lion roar in the forest if he has no prey? Will a young lion let out a cry from his den unless he has taken something?
5 Will a bird fall on a net upon the ground unless it has a snare? Will a net ascend from the ground and have taken nothing?
6 Will a shophar be sounded in the city and the people not quake? Will there be evil in the city if the Lord has not done it?
7 For the Lord God does nothing unless He has revealed His secret to His servants, the prophets.
8 A lion has roared; who will not fear? The Lord God has spoken; who will not prophesy?
9 Announce in the palaces in Ashdod and in the palaces in the land of Egypt, and say; Gather upon the mountains of Samaria and see great confusions within it and people being oppressed in its midst.
10 And they did not know to do right, says the Lord, who store up violence and plunder in their palaces.
11 Therefore, so said the Lord God: An adversary, even round about the land! And he will bring down from you your strength, and your palaces will be spoiled.
12 So said the Lord: As the shepherd saves from the lion’s mouth two legs or the cartilage of an ear, so will the children of Israel dwelling in Samaria be saved in the corner of a bed or in the corner of a couch.
13 Hearken and warn the house of Jacob, says the Lord God, the God of the Hosts.
14 For on the day I visit the transgressions of Israel upon them, I will visit upon the altars of Bethel, and the horns of the altar shall be cut off and shall fall to the earth.
15 And I will smite the winter house with the summer house, and the ivory houses shall be lost, and great houses shall end, says the Lord.

Bible reading in the form of Scripture in pictures can have a profound impact on those who may have never read a chapter in the Hebrew Bible (Old Testament). Viewing pivotal verses in a visual context can deepen one’s understanding of the text and provide a unique perspective. The images may help to illustrate important themes and messages that may not have been as easily grasped through standard reading. Additionally, this method can be particularly beneficial for those who struggle with traditional reading methods or for those who are more visually inclined. The power of visual storytelling has been utilized for centuries, and when paired with the timeless words of Scripture, it has the potential to bring new life and meaning to the ancient text. Ultimately, whatever method one chooses to engage with the Bible, the most important thing is to seek a deeper understanding of God’s word, and to apply it to our lives in a meaningful way.
