I Samuel Chapter 7

THE PROPHETS

I SAMUEL

SHMUEL I

The Books of I and II Samuel, also known as the Books of Samuel (originally one book), recount the life and times of the prophet Samuel, the establishment of the Israelite monarchy, and the reigns of the first two kings of Israel, Saul and David. They provide insights into the political, religious, and social aspects of ancient Israel during that period. Samuel (Shmuel in Hebrew) anointed both Saul and David as kings of Israel with the approval of G-d and at His command.

Samuel is the greatest of all the judges, and a prophet who was of the same stature of Moses and Aaron.

The most coverage of this book in its context is centered in the life of David. Known as man of faith, unselfish leader, great warrior, loyal friend, compassionate in victory, humble in defeat, and model of repentance.

Chapter 7

I Samuel 7th Chapter Makes It Clear As All Over In The Hebrew Bible That G-d Is One And Alone

… Serving Him (Hashem) Alone

Hashem is never pleased of having Jesus, Cross, Trinity, Triune or 3-in-1 G-d!

Why?

Because none of these are from Him. He never said His Name is Jesus or that He is 3-in-1 G-d!

“Samuel the Judge”

So the men of Kiriath-jearim came and brought up the Ark of Hashem, and they brought it to the house of Abinadab on the hill, and they designated Elazar his son to guard the Ark of Hashem.
7:1
Samuel said to the entire House of Israel, saying, “If you are returning unto Hashem with all your hearts, then remove the foreign gods and the Ashtaroth from your midst, and direct your hearts to Hashem, serving Him alone; then He will rescue you from the hand of the Philistines.”
7:3
So the Children of Israel removed the Baalim and the Ashtaroth, and served Hashem alone.
:4
Then Samuel said, “Gather all of Israel to Mizpah, and I will pray to Hashem for you.”
:5
So they gathered at Mizpah. They drew water and poured it out before Hashem and fasted on that day; they said there, “We have sinned to Hashem!” And Samuel judged the Children of Israel at Mizpah.
:6
Samuel took a suckling lamb and offered it up entirely as an elevation-offering to Hashem; Samuel cried out to Hashem on behalf of Israel and Hashem answered him.
:9
… Hashem then thundered with a great noise on that day against the Philistines and confounded them, so that they were defeated by Israel.
:10
The Philistines were humbled and no longer continued to enter the borders of Israel; and the hand of Hashem was against the Philistines all the days of Samuel.
:13
Samuel judged Israel all the days of his life.
:15

1 And the men of Kiriath-jearim came and took up the Ark of the Lord, and brought it to the house of Abinadab, (which was) on the hill, and they designated Eleazar, his son to guard the Ark of the Lord.
2 And it was that from the day the Ark was stationed in Kiriath-jearim, that the time ran on, to twenty years, and all the house of Israel were drawn after the Lord.
3 And Samuel said to all the house of Israel, saying, “If with all your heart, you are returning to the Lord, remove the foreign gods from your midst, and the Ashtaroth, and direct your heart toward the Lord, and serve Him alone, and He will save you from the hand of the Philistines.
4 And the children of Israel removed the Baalim and the Ashtaroth, and served the Lord alone.
5 And Samuel said, “Gather all Israel to Mizpah, and I shall pray to the Lord on your behalf.”
6 And they assembled at Mizpah, and drew water, and poured (it out) before the Lord, and they fasted on that day, and said there, “We have sinned to the Lord.” And Samuel judged the children of Israel in Mizpah.
7 Now the Philistines heard that the children of Israel had assembled at Mizpah, and the lords of the Philistines went up against Israel, and the children of Israel heard, and they were afraid of the Philistines.
8 And the children of Israel said to Samuel, “Cease not to cry out to the Lord our God for us, that He save us from the hand of the Philistines.”
9 And Samuel took one sucking lamb and offered it up as a burnt offering, entirely to the Lord, and Samuel cried out to the Lord on behalf of Israel, and the Lord answered him.
10 And as Samuel was offering up the burnt offering, the Philistines drew near for war against Israel, and the Lord thundered with a loud noise on that day, upon the Philistines, and threw them into a panic, and they were beaten before Israel.
11 And the men of Israel went forth from Mizpah, and pursued the Philistines, and harassed them until they were below Bethcar.
12 And Samuel took one stone, and placed it between Mizpah and the peak (Shen), and he called its name Ebenezer, for he said, “Hitherto the Lord has helped us.”
13 And the Philistines were subdued, and they came no more into the border of Israel, and the hand of the Lord was upon the Philistines all the days of Samuel.
14 And the cities which the Philistines had taken from Israel were restored to Israel; from Ekron to Gath, and their border, Israel delivered from the hand of the Philistines, and there was peace between Israel and the Amorites.
15 And Samuel judged Israel all the days of his life.
16 And from year to year, he would set forth, and go around to Bethel, and Gilgal, and Mizpah, and he would judge Israel in all these places.
17 And his return was to Ramah, for there was his house, and there he judged Israel, and he built there an altar to the Lord.

Bible reading in the form of Scripture in pictures can have a profound impact on those who may have never read a chapter in the Hebrew Bible (Old Testament). Viewing pivotal verses in a visual context can deepen one’s understanding of the text and provide a unique perspective. The images may help to illustrate important themes and messages that may not have been as easily grasped through standard reading. Additionally, this method can be particularly beneficial for those who struggle with traditional reading methods or for those who are more visually inclined. The power of visual storytelling has been utilized for centuries, and when paired with the timeless words of Scripture, it has the potential to bring new life and meaning to the ancient text. Ultimately, whatever method one chooses to engage with the Bible, the most important thing is to seek a deeper understanding of God’s word, and to apply it to our lives in a meaningful way.
